We'll be publishing new games for the duplicate tournament this weekend. Everyone who'd like to be in the starting group, please indicate whether you want to play Civ III or Civ IV and I'll pair you off randomly. New players can form pairs and just download from the web site. The tournament ends on the 31st of December when games will be adjudicated based on final scores. Players achieving a victory by destruction, domination or resignation of the other player will receive the maximum. (What sorts of victories should we allow?)
The passwords for both players will be pre-assigned, and based on the latest versions of Civ III or Civ IV as at the date of the commencement of the tournament, and must be played with that version for the whole of the tournament, without modifications to the rules, settings or scenario (unless as agreed by the group).
Because it's a duplicate tournament, you aren't really playing the other player, you're playing every other corresponding player. The person who wins will be the one who does best in comparison to the others playing the same country.
